SignsCapricorn

♑︎ Capricorn

Ambition, mastery, the mountain path.

The Sun crosses Capricorn each year around December 22 – January 19, the span most people mean when they say they “are” a Capricorn. On the clock it occupies the 270°–300° arc of the gold ring, traditionally ruled by Saturn.

In Capricorn right now

No planets are passing through Capricorn at the moment. The ring waits empty.

In the classical scheme Capricorn combines the earth element with the cardinal mode, on the negative, receptive half of the wheel: a grounded, practical, slow-to-move key. Being cardinal, it wants to start things and set them moving.

Season anchors the sign: it opens winter at the December solstice, the longest night. Tradition hands its rulership to Saturn, the timekeeper fits the sign of the long climb, and assigns it the knees, bones, and skin in the classical body-map.

Read well, Capricorn shows as discipline that builds to last; read badly, it slides toward ambition that forgets to rest.
